Patient Success Stories

I am a single mother, assistant manager for a large chain of businesses, a devoted family member, and I am a drug addict and alcoholic in recovery.
I arrived at this point because of my family history, difficult childhood, and poor decisions in my youth – yes, that’s all true. But what is also true is I decided to put chemicals in my body for a long enough period of time that I got hooked.
This is my third time trying to get sober and I could never stay clean for more than 6 months. Because of my experiences with Dr. DiIullo and RCG, I just celebrated 3 years and 2 months of sobriety. Once again I am living a life I don’t have to be ashamed of. I am living, working, and succeeding in a world not completely tainted by drugs and drug abuse.
– Anna C.

I am 29 years old and the father of a 6 year old daughter.
I arrived here because when I was 19 years old I injured my back at work and became addicted to pain medication after having surgery.
Counseling is a vital part of my recovery. I feel that suboxone helps but without guidance and consciously thinking about getting better, recovery is impossible.
– Matt P.

I am a 41 year old barber who enjoys what I do, and I am a veteran of the Navy for 9 years. I have three great children all with my ex-wife who divorced me because of my addiction to pain medicine. I knew I needed help at least 10 years ago but did not know how to ask for it.
This has been the best thing to happen to me! I did not know there was medicine to help with this addiction. Suboxone has given me my life back.
Counseling has been great. I did some bad things to get what I needed, and knowing I’m not different from anyone else has helped greatly. I don’t beat myself up anymore.

I am a licensed nurse, 33 years old. I have 2 kids who are 16 and 4 and have another on the way. I have been with my wife for over 13 years now.
I started to take pain killers just here and there for a fun buzz. Before I knew it, it was 10 years later and I was taking 60 Percocets daily or 1000 mg of morphine or any opiate that was available to me. I almost lost my job, wife, house, and kids. I ran our savings dry and went past due on our house and car payments.
The counseling helps tremendously. I get good tips and it’s an outlet to talk about things that no one else could understand. The tools you learn for recovery really do help!
– Shane A.

I am a mother of a 6 year old son. I am currently married. I am 32 years old and attend Columbus State Community College part-time.
I came to RCG because of an addiction to Tramadol, Vicodin, and Percocet. It happened quite accidentally. I had chronic lower back pain for years, and when I tried to quit my medication on my own I found out just how dependent I had become.
The group sessions are absolutely essential. I don’t do well around a lot of people, especially people I don’t know, but these groups are small (usually no more than 5-6 people). The group sessions have given me the tools I need to start in the right direction. Even though I’m still at the beginning of my journey, I am so optimistic at the chance to recover!
– Lisa T.

I am a 36 year old male who is the owner of a small construction business. I live in the country and like the outdoors. I have a wife and three children.
I realized I needed help when I would be sick for days on end, had spent most of my savings, and would be missing from life for weeks at a time. I knew I needed help from more than what I could do personally.
My treatment has been a Godsend. Without the help of Rehabilitation Care Group I don’t believe I would be telling you any of this today.
– John Z.

I was a school teacher and coach that started taking opiates for a back injury. After 10 years of taking different opiates and acquiring a tolerance, I switched to methadone and eventually heroin. Addiction is not prejudice. I was not a partier. I was a teacher, head football coach, and had a good reputation in my town.
I knew for years I needed help, but I was afraid! I was afraid to go through detox or take time off for rehab. When I got into trouble, I knew I had to get help.
My experience here has been awesome. Brandi, Nikki and the entire staff have made me feel welcome. Dr. Valentine takes his time with me and talks to me about my life and recovery and has a genuine interest in my recovery. Suboxone and RCG have helped turn my life around!
– Mike M.
