Substance Abuse Counseling

therapy session
Counseling is a vital part of addiction therapy. The medication your doctor prescribes will help with the physical symptoms and cravings associated with addiction. Counseling addresses the underlying factors that led to your addiction and helps you develop coping mechanisms to avoid relapse. Counseling can also be useful for friends and family members of patients struggling with addiction. It can help people better understand the disease of addiction and improve their ability to cope with their loved ones' journey.
Rehabilitation Care Group has partnered with Rehabilitation Counseling Group to provide counseling services. Mike McCafferty is an accredited counselor specializing in substance abuse treatment. He is available for appointments Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Both individual and group counseling sessions are available. Please contact our staff for further billing questions.
Mike McCafferty is an independent counselor, so you don't have to be a patient at Rehabilitation Care Group to see him. If you would like to make an appointment, you can call 614-901-0590 and one of the staff will connect you. Rehabilitation Care Group patients can also visit Mike when they come in for their regular monthly appointment or call in to see if he is available.
Mike has developed the following presentation to help educate patients and their families about the effect of substance abuse and the benefits of treatment.

Benefits of Counseling

1. It helps teach people new ways to view their addictions, and a new perspective can help with recovery.
2. It helps show patients new ways to cope with triggers and cravings.
3. It gives individuals someone to talk to about their feelings during a difficult time with no judgement.
4. It can help heal relationships with friends and family members.
5. It can be customized to cater to the needs of the individual, which is an incredibly important part of addiction treatment.

I am a 41 year old barber who enjoys what I do, and I am a veteran of the Navy for 9 years. I have three great children all with my ex-wife who divorced me because of my addiction to pain medicine. I knew I needed help at least 10 years ago but did not know how to ask for it.
This has been the best thing to happen to me! I did not know there was medicine to help with this addiction. Suboxone has given me my life back.
Counseling has been great. I did some bad things to get what I needed, and knowing I’m not different from anyone else has helped greatly. I don’t beat myself up anymore.
